Description

This is a 2-day tour from Istanbul to Troy and Gallipoli with an overnight stay in a hotel (Beb&Breakfast). 

On the first day of the tour, we will head to Gallipoli. Gallipoli is a few hours long drive from Istanbul and is the site of a famous battle between the Allies (particularly soldiers from Australia and New Zealand, called ANZACs) and Turks in World War I as part of the Allied campaign to capture Constantinople. Unfortunately, it was a disaster for the Allies with more than 60,000 soldiers killed, including 10,880 ANZACs, and many thousands wounded. Although victorious, the Ottomans also suffered great losses with an estimated 85,000 soldiers killed. 

This tour is a deeply moving and powerful journey into history. Your guide will take you to key battle locations and the many memorials to fallen ANZACS and Turkish soldiers where you will learn about the great sacrifices they made for their countries.

On the second day, we will visit the ancient city of Troy. You will learn about the interesting story of the Trojan War and great legends of Greek mythology. You will have the chance to visit the ancient city and temple ruins and marvel at the Odeon with its capacity for 1,500 spectators.

• Remains of various cities from Troy I through to Troy IX
17.30 Return from Troy tour
18.00 Depart for Istanbul
23.00 Arrive in Istanbul and be returned to your hotel.
